FLUFF UP, AIR, AND WASH REGULARLY

Regular airing is a relevant part of maintenance for Joutsen down bedding. Shake and tap quilts and pillows lightly; do not beat them. Down and feather pillows must be fluffed up every morning to allow the moisture accumulated during the night to evaporate. It is advisable to leave the bed unmade for a while.

All Joutsen down bedding products with cotton fabrics are to be washed at 60 °C. Dust mites are destroyed at this temperature. Wet the product thoroughly before washing.

For laundry detergent, it is recommended to use Joutsen down shampoo, specially developed for washing down products. You can also use some other neutral, non-bleach detergent. To avoid residue, we recommend using about 1/3 of the normal amount of detergent. Do not use fabric softeners.

After washing in a machine with a sufficiently large drum, Joutsen bedding products should be rinsed with ample water and spin-dried at high speed so that they are as dry as possible. If a tumble dryer is used, the temperature must be low and the drying time as long as possible, up to 3–4 hours. It is recommended to stop the machine from time to time, fluff up the product manually, and then continue the tumble dryer cycle. Down products can also be air-dried in a well-ventilated space, provided that the product is fluffed up thoroughly and as often as possible during drying. The drying time is long (1–3 days) and varies with the air’s humidity level.
The easiest way of drying Joutsen Triplus® pillows is to use a tumble dryer.

The fabrics used in Joutsen down products are high-quality, breathable fabrics. Since the fabrics are not fully airtight, some fluff present in the filling may come through the fabric from time to time. In minor quantities, this is normal and has no effect on the thermal and insulation properties of the product.

Storage

Store the down product clean at room temperature in a dry and spacious place. Always let the product dry completely before storage.
